Cape Town skipper Tristan Coetzee gave his side the early momentum after electing to bat first, striking three fours in the second over as he powered to 33 from 23 balls at the top of the order.
Josh Chippendale kept Cape Town going forward after the loss of his captain, scoring a run-a-ball 19 that left his side relatively well-placed on 68-2 at the halfway mark.
Medium-pacer Stefan Breuninger swung the pendulum back in Durbanville’s favour, picking up a wicket in each of the two overs comprising his second spell to eliminate the remainder of Cape Town’s top order.
Mathew Goles kept the fight going for Cape Town into the 17th over, but for the most part found himself restricted to just singles as Durbanville ever tightened their grip.
Durbanville opening bowler Darian Naidoo recovered from taking some tap in his first spell, closing the innings off with 2-8 in his final two overs as Cape Town’s ending effort tailed off badly.
Jersey leg-spinner Ben Ward added the final touches to Durbanville’s grip over proceedings, striking in successive balls in his final over to limit Cape Town to a measly 16-4 from their final four overs.
Durbanville captain Fritz de Beer ensured that his side was never under pressure in pursuit of their rather moderate target, striking three fours and a six from his first ten balls faced.
Fellow opening bat Jean Strydom produced a fluent run-a-ball 23 of his own, keeping Durbanville well ahead of the required rate at 64-1 from just eight overs.
Left-arm spinner Michal Lord gave Durbanville some pause, striking with his very first delivery en route to taking down both Durbanville openers.
However, with Laurens Smit settling in and scoring fluently, Cape Town were never able to wrest control away from Durbanville – and he finished matters with a six and a four in quick succession.
