Tristan Coetzee was half of an effective opening pair for Cape Town, scoring 21 at better than a-run-a-ball to help his side to 47-0 in seven overs.

 

William Hantam was the other Cape Town opening bat, and made 52 with eight fours as the visitors began well.

 

WPCC left-arm spinner Kyle Simmonds took 2-32 from his ten overs, helping the home side claw their way back into the match after a bright Cape Town start.

 

Nathan Schultz played the stand-out innings for Cape Town on the day, striking a six and seven fours in his career-best knock of 64.

 

WPCC opening bowler Luke Petersen denied Cape Town a strong finish, striking twice in quick succession in his second spell to finish with 3-34.

 

Givon Christian plugged away with his off-breaks for WPCC, picking up two scalps along the way.

 

New-ball bowler Alex Draai took some tap initially, but also bagged a brace of scalps by the end.

 

Opening bowler Brendan Young gave Cape Town their second good start of the match, dismissing both home team openers within his first two overs.

 

Seamer Nicholas Scott then followed up the early breakthrough with a stellar spell of 7-0-10-3 to dominate the WPCC middle order.

 

WPCC number three bat Justin Broad prevented a complete top order collapse, twice hitting two fours in an over during his 25.

 

Justin Behrens made the initial running in his match-winning 119-run stand with Dan da Costa, but soon settled for a supporting role as he pieced together 38 in 91 balls.

 

WPCC keeper Dan da Costa was the difference between the sides on the day, producing an electrifying 92 not out from just 71 balls to first rescue his side from 61-7, before guiding them home to a one-wicket win.
