After the loss of both openers cheaply, Ethan Cunningham stabilised the Cape Town innings with an attractive 30 from 37 balls.

Cape Town’s overseas pro Fletcha Middleton then added 26 runs of his own, as the visitors sought to regain the initiative leading into the middle overs.

However, Green Point left-arm seamer Gerry van Vuuren kept chipping away at the batting, bagging three scalps to reduce Cape Town to 131-6 with just 15 overs remaining.

Craig Jeffery kept Cape Town in the fight though, contributing 37 runs as he batted into the final PowerPlay.

Two strikes in consecutive overs by opening bowler Wesley Bedja in the closing overs meant that Green Point always retained the upper hand though.

Seamer Elliott Moses then put some early punishment behind him to wrap up the Cape Town innings, claiming the final two wickets in the space of three balls.

Green Point opening bat Zac Elkin ensured that the home side was always in control of their run chase, batting through to the 37th over in compiling a workmanlike 59 that included just two boundaries.

Green Point keeper Gareth Roderick then produced a measured unbeaten innings of 66 from 80 balls, which allowed the home side to knock off the 50 needed from the last seven overs.

Gerry van Vuuren was also there at the end for Green Point, his undefeated 28 coming in an unfinished 71-run stand with Gareth Roderick that got the home side over the line in the final over.
