Rylands captain and left-arm opening bowler Riaaz Teladia put his side on top from the outset, dismissing both visiting openers with his first 13 deliveries – before returning later to clean up the last two wickets as well.

Teladia’s new-ball partner Abdullah Bayoumy then quickly reduced Cape Town to 24-5 from the other end, as he produced an immaculate opening spell of 7-3-10-3.

Munowar Samsodien then followed up the initial strikes by his fellow seamers upfront, bagging two more scalps of his own as Cape Town collapsed to 47-8 before the halfway mark of their innings.

Eventually it was left to Cape Town skipper Geoff Dods to try and get some kind of defendable total on the board – although by then his 29 could never hope to reverse the grievous damage already inflicted on his side.

Chasing a paltry total of just 80, Rylands opener Jack Newby ensured that Rylands would fairly race to a massive victory by cracking six fours in the space of four overs in an eventual undefeated 44 from just 36 balls.

Rylands keeper Taariq Chiecktey was the other half of an opening stand that made light work of their 81-run target, hitting five fours of his own in his 31.
