Cape Town opening bat Josh Chippendale put the Primrose bowling attack to the sword in astounding fashion, smashing eight sixes and five fours in his knock of 82 from just 46 balls faced.

Captain Tristan Coetzee played his part too in a Cape Town first-wicket stand of 71 in eight overs, blazing two sixes and two fours in his 28 from 21 balls.

Jordan Bowers continued the good work done by Cape Town’s openers, sharing a 50-run in four overs with Josh Chippendale before hitting four sixes of his own.

Primrose opening bowler Jameel Ismail picked up two of Cape Town’s three big hitters, but was twice hit for 20 in an over as he conceded six sixes and 51 runs in the process.

Fellow Primrose opening bowler Yusuf Keet had a better time of it, picking up two wickets in his third over and conceding just two fours.

Off-spinner Rashid Sayed was the pick of the Primrose bowlers though, bowling his four overs on the trot and conceding just a single four in taking 2-20.

Cape Town left-arm spinner Michal Lord then opened the bowling and demolished the Primrose top order in short order, taking 4-11 in his four overs to reduce Primrose to 14-5 in reply.

Fast bowler Lifa Ntanzi then followed this up with two wickets of his own in a three-over opening spell, tumbling Primrose ever further into the abyss.

Abdul Abrahams fought a lone battle for Primrose in the middle overs, striking five fours in his 28 from 25 balls.

Jade Schoeman’s off-breaks then added the final touches to a completely dominant Cape Town performance, picking up a career-best 2-12 in his short First XI career to date.
