Josh Chippendale put his first time opening the batting for Cape Town this season to good use, scoring a solid 37 while putting on 83 for the first wicket with his captain.

 

Cape Town skipper Tristan Coetzee hit his fifth half-century of the season, striking two sixes and five fours in his 50 from 41 balls at the top of the order.

 

Claremont leg-spinner Harlan Greig took the first three wickets to fall, in an opening spell of 7-0-30-3 to undermine Cape Town’s initial batting efforts.

 

Jamie Marillier produced another typically stroke-rich innings for Cape Town, hitting a four and a six in his 26 from 33 balls.

 

Mathew Goles was not quite his dominant self, but in his first significant innings for Cape Town since returning from injury, added 36 and shared a 74-run stand with Justin Gilliland.

 

Justin Gilliland’s 74 off just 64 balls, including two sixes and six fours, was the prime driving force behind Cape Town posting a dominant total of 268.

 

Lukanyo Metu added a breezy 24 from 21 balls in the closing overs for Cape Town, cracking a four and a six en route.

 

Claremont seamer Gavin Dickensen picked up the pieces in the final ten overs, bagging three of the five wickets to fall.

 

The Claremont innings revovled around a brutal display of power-hitting from their captain Josh Pistorius, who clobbered five sixes and five fours in his 59 from just 32 balls.
