Edgemead opening bowler Reeve Cyster dismissed both opening batters in his first two overs after Cape Town were asked to bat first, and would add a third scalp later in the innings as well.

Jordan Bowers provided the bulk of Cape Town’s runs in the first half of their innings, striking a six and two fours in his 28 from 32 balls.

Left-arm spinner Jorgen Pettenburger dominated the middle overs for Edgemead, taking 4-23 in his four overs as Cape Town subsided to 72-8.

Last man in, Jade Schoeman struck three fours in a career-best 20 from 14 balls for Cape Town, providing a last-minute boost to get the side beyond a total of 100.

Edgemead seamer Pierz Cyster picked up a wicket early on, before returning at the death to wrap up the innings with the final wicket.

Opening bat Sean Dednam then kept the Edgemead reply well on course with his 25 from 28 balls, despite hitting just a single four.

Michal Lord’s own left-arm spin proved equally difficult for Edgemead to counter, as he collected 2-12 from his four overs.

Daniel Haschick’s 35 from 24 balls proved to be the winning contribution, striking two sixes and three fours as he guided Edgemead home from 47-3 to 100-4 before falling right at the end.

Craig Jeffery’s leg-spin claimed two wickets for Cape Town, but was unable to prevent an Edgemead victory among a steady hemorrhaging of runs.
