Cape Town skipper Tristan Coetzee led from the front, hitting four sixes and six fours in scoring 92 from 107 balls after being put in to bat.

 

Josh Chippendale also starred, making 89 (his second-highest career score) as he and Tristan Coetzee added 137 in 27 overs for the third wicket to set up a dominant Cape Town total.

 

UWC left-arm opening bowler Liyema Waqu struck early and at the death of the Cape Town innings, finishing with 4-45 from his ten overs.

 

Justin Gilliland helped build on the foundation laid by Cape Town’s third-wicket partnership, scoring 20 as he added a further 49 with Josh Chippendale for the fourth wicket.

 

Opening bat Fayaad Daniels stood firm initially in his side’s run chase, but when fourth man out for 25, the home side only had 50 on the board.

 

First-change seamer Alex Draai set the wheels in motion for a dominant Cape Town victory, striking twice in his first three overs en route to figures of 3-27.

 

Michal Lord’s left-arm spin undid the UWC middle order, claiming three wickets in 17 balls to topple the home side to 67-6 and end the match as a contest.

 

Zain Galant hit a busy 22 from 29 balls for UWC, as he sought to launch a fightback in the middle overs.

 

Nicholas Govender held the second half of the UWC innings together but could not change the course of events, batting 29 overs for his 48 that included but a single boundary.

 

Cape Town opening bowler Jaden Rose provided the finishing touches to Cape Town’s win, taking a brace of scalps and holding the winning catch.
