Cape Town skipper Tristan Coetzee led from the front by contributing his highest score of the season to date, hitting ten boundaries (including three sixes) in his 86 from 108 balls at the top of the order.

Marthew Goles remained Cape Town’s batting stalwart though, reaching his seventh half-century of the 2025 leg of the seaon with his 60 from just 76 balls.

Rondebosch off-spinner Wiann van der Merwe helped turn the match back in his side’s favour in the middle overs with 3-32 from his ten overs, including a final spell of 4-3-3-2.

Seamer Ali-Akbar Shaik was the other half of a very effective Rondebosch bowling pairing that ripped the heart out of the Cape Town middle order, using the slower ball effectively to pick up three wickets of his own in his second spell.

Opening bowler Cameron Fraser bookended the Cape Town innings by taking the first and last wickets to fall, as he sent down nine economical overs.

Rondebosch opening bat Josh Thomas maintained his side’s dominance by pulverising Cape Town’s attack in the opening eleven overs of their run chase, en route to making 86 from 66 balls.

Travis Norris played his part too in a Rondebosch opening stand of 104 in just 11½ overs, contributing 35 from 24 balls faced.

Alex Draai prevented a complete rout by grabbing three wickets in his second spell, leading a home side rearguard action that captured four for 36.

However, Rondebosch skipper Lenert van Wyk hit a meaty 29 from 35 balls, ensuring that his side kept moving remorselessly forward and did not surrender their control over proceedings.

Leg-spinner Craig Jeffery performed credibly for Cape Town in the circumstances, taking 2-36 from his ten overs.

Late-arriving replacement Kashief Joseph added the final touches for Rondebosch though, seeing his side safely over the line with his undefeated 24 at the end.
