Cape Town skipper Tristan Coetzee hit 29 off 38 balls at the top of the order after electing to bat first, giving his side a decent start at 58-1.
Ottoman off-spinner Zain Galant pulled his side back into the contest with two top-order wickets in consecutive overs – before returning towards the end to immediately bag two further scalps.
Mathew Goles was the stand-out batter of the match, top-scoring with a solid 56 that also made him Cape Town’s leading overall run scorer.
The turning point: Justin Gilliland chops on to end both his knock of 31 and Cape Town’s 81-run fourth-wicket partnership – the start of a collapse that cost the visitors their last seven wickets for just 20 runs.
Seamer Matthew Wilson picked up two wickets in the first over of his second spell, as Ottoman took control in the final Powerplay of the Cape Town innings.
Ottoman opening bowler Mogamat Fredericks bookended the Cape Town innings by taking the first and last wicket to fall, as the visitors were bowled out with five overs left unused.
Opening bat Isma-eel Adams continued Ottoman’s dominance of the middle stage of the match, scoring 37 in an opening stand of 70.
Home team captain Mujaahid Toffar added 34 runs of his own as the other half of a solid opening stand that had seemingly set Ottoman up for victory.
Despite the loss of three further wickets in relatively quick succession after the opening stand had been finally broken, Taariq Behardien kept Ottoman on track in making a busy 27.
Opening bowler Alex Draai made effective use of the yorker in the closing stages, castling two batters in consecutive overs as Cape Town came storming back to grab the win.
Leg-spinner Craig Jeffery then struck twice in two overs himself, adding to his earlier wicket to seal a dramatic win for Cape Town.
