Cape Town opening bowler Alex Draai put the new ball to good use after an extended delay, grabbing two wickets in his first four overs.

 

Victoria opening bat Jordan Fourie scored 24 of his side’s first 31 runs after being put in to bat, before becoming the third man out.

 

Left-arm spinner Michal Lord exploited the opening created by the new ball with two wickets of his own, as Victoria collapsed to 38-5.

 

Gennaro Reddy dragged Victoria back into the contest almost single-handedly, blazing four sixes and three fours in his knock of 57.

 

Warrick Rhoda was the steadying influence in a vital sixth wicket stand of 72 for Victoria, compiling a measured 23 of his own.

 

Cape Town leg-spinner Craig Jeffery finally broke through a stubborn sixth wicket partnership, and then quickly followed this up with a second wicket too.

 

Victoria left-arm opening bowler Robin Kriel set Cape Town’s run chase back from the outset, grabbing two key wickets in the opening over – and then later returning to close out the contest by capturing the batting lynchpin too.

 

Josh Chippendale played an almost solo hand for Cape Town with his 62 from 67 balls, while a steady procession of partners departed at the other end.

 

Jordan Fourie’s off breaks snatched the game dramatically away in favour of Victoria, his four-for including a burst of three for nought in five balls.
