Cape Town duly wrapped up their Two-Day season in great fashion, extending their 13-season record run of outright wins to seven on the trot and completing the job of turning their 2009/10 season around in near-perfect fashion - winning every subsequent game after losing the first two. Unfortunately however, those two initial defeats ultimately came back to haunt them, as notwithstanding their remarkable run of form Cape Town thereafter could never quite manage to close the bonus point gap that log leaders Pinelands had consequently pulled out over them during those first two rounds. A second-place finish some eight points behind Pinelands was thus the best that Cape Town could manage, providing a bitter-sweet ending to an otherwise fantastic season.

Notwithstanding some nervous moments along the way, Cape Town ultimately clinched their sixth successive Two-Day win with some 20 minutes to spare, thereby taking their challenge to become the 1B champions into the final round of matches with everything still left to play for. With their rivals Pinelands and Primrose also pulling off their own sixth wins at the same time, the three-way tie at the top of the log consequently remains unbroken - and guarantees that the title will only be decided on the final day of the Two-Day season.

Cape Town maintained their extraordinary run of form in the 2009/10 season, recording a 125-run away-from-home victory over Northerns-Goodwood that was entirely more hard-fought than the ultimate winning margin might suggest. Nevertheless, it earned Cape Town the maximum possible bounty of 26 bonus points, and even more importantly their quite remarkable fifth Two-Day win on the trot has kept the beckoning prize of winning the 1B League still very much within Cape Town's grasp.

It was nail-biting edge-of-the-seat stuff for most of their second innings, but Cape Town ultimately dug deep enough to pull off a tight three-wicket win over Montrose at The Vineyard. The victory was their fourth Two-Day win on the trot - a 13-season record sequence for the Plumstead-based outfit, but most importantly it kept them in the mix with their two closest League rivals Pinelands and Primrose (both of whom also recorded their fourth outright victory of the season in the same round of matches).

Cape Town finished the 2009 leg of their season in fine style, recording a comprehensive away-from-home win over log leaders Pinelands. It was Cape Town's third successive victory in the Two-Day League - equalling their best-ever run over the past 13 seasons - and their first at Pinelands in this competition during the same period. More importantly though, it allowed the Plumstead-based outfit to join their hosts at the top of the log, together with Primrose who in the same round of matches also chalked up their third outright win.

Cape Town recorded their second successive outright Two-Day victory of the season, cruising to an easy eight-wicket win over Victoria a little over an hour after Lunch on the Second Day. Although there is a long road yet to be travelled, this strong recovery has propelled them straight back into contention for winning promotion back to the 1A come the end of the season. Now in joint second place on the log with Glamorgan and Primrose in terms of victories achieved, their next fixture is the crucial clash with log leaders Pinelands - who with their third successive victory have managed to keep their noses in front of the rest of the pack.

A reshuffled Cape Town First XI rebounded strongly to record a vital first Two-Day win of the 2009/10 season, stretching their run of away victories over Almar in this competition to three on the trot in the process. Dominic Telo's fifth century for the team ensured a large first-innings advantage, after which almost non-existent batting in both innings from the second half of the home team's line-up handed the visitors a comfortable enough victory by a little over an hour after lunch on the second day.

The slump in Two-Day form that the Cape Town First XI has suffered throughout their 2009/10 campaign showed no signs of abating at the conclusion of their second match in this competition. Indeed, if anything it seems to be accelerating, and if the completely horrendous batting débâcle witnessed on the second afternoon is anything to go by, matters are now all but teetering on the brink of freefall. Thus it was that Glamorgan handed the home side their second successive hiding in their own back yard, and unless they start playing to their potential extremely quickly, Cape Town may well find themselves scurrying around the basement of the 1B come the season's end.

Primrose duly wrapped up an overwhelmingly comprehensive victory over Cape Town in the opening round of matches in the 2009/10 Two-Day campaign, trouncing their hosts by a mammoth 184-run margin in their clash at the Boon Wallace Oval. Abject batting in both innings by the Plumstead-based outfit's top seven, coupled with a demonstrable lack of penetration in their bowling attack, were more than sufficient to doom them in a match that was as one-sided as their opponents' ultimate winning margin suggests.
