With Claremont already having qualified for the semi-finals of this competition the previous week, there was nothing in this match to play for besides the consolation prize of taking second spot in the pool. Still, in an almost carbon copy replica of their previous week's game against Claremont, albeit with reversed fortunes this time, Cape Town skittled their opponents on the back of a magnificent display from a fast bowler, and then thanks to a fluent half-century from the number four batsman easily chased down the target with an abundance of overs to spare.

Claremont opening bowler Greg Abrahams brushed aside a slapdash Cape Town batting effort to skittle the visitors for a paltry 124, setting up an ultimately comprehensive win for his team. Richard Lotter briefly threatened to upset the party with three quick wickets in the Claremont reply, only to tear a hamstring immediately thereafter. Richard Levi then batted imperiously in partnership with his captain Marc Adams to power the home side to victory with more than 20 overs to spare.

Victoria's captain Mark de Stadler led magnificently from the front in producing a superb all-round performance, but it was ultimately all in vain as his teammates failed to provide the necessary support. The net result was consequently Cape Town's third successive limited overs win over Victoria, including the AMA20/20 match last season.
