Cape Town snatched the initiative with immediate effect, opening bowler Brendan Young striking twice in his second over to reduce Strandfontein to 7-3 less than 15 minutes into the match.

Young’s new-ball partner Darren Rolfe produced an opening spell of 3-14 in eight overs from the other end, completing the job of wrecking the visitors’ top order to leave them reeling on 26-5.

Number three bat Justin Gilliland was the only Strandfontein batsman to reach 20, holding out for almost two hours to eventually reach 33.

Bradley Petersen’s left-arm spin wrapped up the Strandfontein tail in quick order, capturing the last four wickets in 26 balls to bag Limited Overs career-best figures of 4-13.

James Crowson chased down Cape Town’s simple target with relish at the top of the home side’s order, scoring at better than a-run-a-ball from the outset.
William Hantam was an able partner to James Crowson in a 72-run opening stand that all but took Cape Town to victory, cracking six fours of his own in his knock of 30.

James Crowson had just enough time to reach his fifty before the winning runs were scored, having struck two sixes and nine fours in a dominant undefeated 55.
