Mathew Goles hit two sixes and two fours in his 27 from 25 balls at the top of the order, helping to give Cape Town a bright start as they surged to 40 without loss within the six-over Powerplay after electing to bat first.
William Hantam built on the initial foundation with his subsequent knock of 29 from 36 balls, ensuring a solid middle-order effort that set Cape Town up for a big finish at 95-2 with five overs remaining.
Mixing some off-spin with medium pace, Nadier Samaai picked up two for 21 in his four overs for Ottoman, preventing Cape Town’s batting from getting away from his side completely.
Given the responsibility of opening the bowling, Hilio de Abreu’s off-spin put the Ottoman run chase under immediate pressure as he struck with the first delivery of both his opening overs to reduce the Surrey Estate side to 11-2.
As the Ottoman top order subsided to 43-4 against some probing spin bowling, Muzzamil Sheik was left to fight a lone battle for his side – striking two sixes and two fours in top-scoring with 33 from 31 balls.
Left-arm spinner Bradley Petersen finished off the remainder of the Ottoman top order in his T20 debut, producing a dominant spell of 3-18 from his four overs to put Cape Town well in charge of proceedings.
Veteran off-spinner Matthew Olsen cleaned up the Ottoman middle-order with two scalps in his four overs, all but putting the match to bed for Cape Town.
Darren Rolfe added the final touches to a clinical Cape Town season-opening performance, grabbing two late wickets of his own as Ottoman were unable to escape the vice grip that held them.
All done and dusted as Cape Town get their 2018/19 season off to a great start with a comfortable bonus-point win over Ottoman.
